As we launch the Statelessness Month of Action, we invite you to join us in honoring and amplifying a central truth: communities affected by statelessness are not waiting for change, we are already creating it. Throughout this month, we are opening our doors and bringing together stateless people, allies, and partner organizations across the globe to highlight the many ways we are taking action, challenging exclusion, and claiming our rights.
Together, we will explore four weekly pathways to change, demonstrating that action takes many forms, whether sharing a story, building a movement, using the law for justice, or collective visioning for our future.
How We Are Taking Action This Month
Week One: Building Our Stories
We begin by reclaiming and amplifying our own narratives, recognizing that storytelling is a form of resistance and empowerment. This week centers stateless voices as the primary authority on statelessness, moving from sharing stories to equipping our movement with key communication tools.
Movement Story Video Launch: We are launching our Movement Story video alongside member spotlights tracing our journey and vision.
Global Voices Conversation: An online discussion featuring contributors to our special coverage on the care and politics of lived-experience storytelling.
Tool Launches: We are officially releasing the Living Dictionary on Statelessness and the Language Inclusivity Good Practice Guide to reshape how the world understands statelessness.
In-Person Gathering (Pakistan): Hosted with the Imkaan Welfare Organization, "Our Stories, Our Power" brings stateless Bengali communities together in Karachi for community-led story circles.
Week Two: Collective Action
We shift from storytelling to belonging, creating structured pathways for individuals and organizations—especially those directly impacted by statelessness—to organize and shape our movement's future.
GMAS Membership Platform Launch: We are hosting a live walkthrough of our new platform, detailing how to join, access resources, and actively engage in our governance.
Framing Discussion “From Stories to Collective Power“ exploring why movement membership matters. We differentiate passive support from active participation. In order to center impacted voices within movement structures.
In person Event (United Kingdom): Hosted in partnership with ENS, "The Power of Collective Action" exploring the power of communities driven Change.
Week Three: Taking Action Through the Law
We highlight how stateless communities use legal knowledge, strategic litigation, and community-based justice to claim rights and drive systemic change.
Global Online Panel: "Taking Action Through the Law: From Community Justice to Global Accountability" connects grassroots legal empowerment models with high-level strategic litigation, including insights on ICJ cases and amicus interventions.
Community Action & Radio (Kenya): In partnership with the Nubian Rights Forum and Namati, we are hosting an interactive Community Justice Lab led by paralegals, paired with a community radio broadcast to demystify legal processes across households.
Week Four: Building the Future
We look toward the future we are actively building, celebrating youth leadership, solidarity, and the commitments that will sustain our work beyond this month.
Regional Dialogue (Americas): we are gathering members across the region to discuss local-to-global advocacy
"The Future, we are Making" Gathering (Lebanon): Hosted alongside, My Nationality is a Right for Me and My Family Campaign , The Right to Be Campaign and the Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights, this event focuses on the Future Leadership, it present a forward-looking aspects and messages for a world where everyone belong.
